Not an owner yet, but conflicted

Thanks again to all who supplied information. Valuable information.

I won't enumerate all the reasons here, it's not all that interesting anyway, but I did end up going with the Weber Kamado E6 instead the pellet.

That $500 off from best buy, because of my coupon and rewards, was awfully tempting. I had that timberline 1300 or ironwood 885 in my cart many a day. Not at the same time though. Almost pull the trigger a couple of times.

In the end, for me, and knowing that I like food cooked on the kamado with that charcoal flavor and much more control over smoke, I went with another Kamado.
Awesome, going into a decision informed shouldn't leave you disappointed.
My Vision Kamado isn't much smaller than that, has two racks and I find it small. Hopefully that 425 square inches isn't too small.
Not sure if you have a temp controller for the Kamado, but if you do, you'll be able to get the blower adapter for the Weber. But drilling into the new beast may be something one would be apprehensive about. Or you could go with this cheap option
Cheap option and gets fairly good reviews. It can also be used on the other Kamado you have

I hear ya. Sometimes I just want a simple pork tenderloin over lump charcoal. I like having both options.

I'm thought the summit E6 has a fan port built in.

I didn't see that in the specs. Nice feature to have, because drilling through could make a mess. Thanks for pointing that out to me

Best grilled/BBQ food I ever had was cooked on a Kamado style grill. A Kamado can grill and smoke, the Traeger can only smoke. I say this as I am looking at my Traeger ...

I looked for it in specs, and in the user manual before I posted and could not find it, however I remember reading about it on the internet so it must be true ;)

I've not seen it with my own eyes, but next time I go to my dealer I'm going to look for it.

It wasn't in the first specs I looked at, but when I looked at it on the Weber website it was listed there. I think that option will become the norm in these in the future. The controls have come along way and work as well as the pellet grill controllers.

best brisket I've ever had was smoked on an old school stick burner.
second best was smoked on a traeger that is likely over 10 years old.

I'd like to say the best I've ever had was cooked by me, but...

The important thing is that you get one that you'll be happy with. The biggest reason why I got the Traeger model I did doesn't apply to 99% (or more) of the people out there, so I usually don't share my reasons either. You can make good Q on a lot of different types of devices, as long as you get one that works for you.

I don't understand the not a grill thing being mentioned. I can easily take my Ironwood up to 450/500 and put the grate on the lowest setting and grill things like burgers. What makes it unable to grill?

It can grill, especially if you add GrillGrates etc. It does use more fuel so many use their old gasser if available.

The gasser I use just for steaks. That won't change since I like my GrillGrates.

The pellet would do almost everything I use the kamado for now. So thinking the pellet would be used for chicken/wings, ribs, pork butts, brisket, and pizza. That's the stuff I usually cook.

Would be nice to do 2+ pizzas at same time since the kamado limits me to one . Or 4-5 racks of ribs. Or more than 10 large chicken thighs.

Really looking for more space to replace the Kamado. The 18" Kamado is cramped.
Someone mentioned the difference between pellet smoke and wood smoke (like on your Kamodo). There is really no smoke from pellets. I've started using 2 smoke tubes, but fill them with wood chips and just a few pellets to fill gaps. It is almost the same taste of smoke I got on my 18" WSM using charcoal and wood chunks. Pellets are sawdust, the smoke is visible, but I couldn't taste any smoke on my first cook of ribs, chicken and sausage using pellets only. Yes, I tried 5 different top rated pellets and it just smelled like sawdust burning... kind of like the smell when wood gets too hot from the table saw blade. : D
