New Ironwood inaccurate temp

I do not use a smoke generator, but a couple I have heard of are the Smoke Daddy and the Smokai.

Before you jump into the expense and effort of modifying your Traeger, I would suggest that you check out some of the threads on smoke tubes. There are some techniques that can be used to achieve optimal results. You are quite new to the forum and might benefit from the experience of those who use smoke tubes regularly.

Other than smoke tube/trays what other smoke generators are available?
I’ve got a friend that used the Smoke Daddy and it doesn’t put out a clean smoke, he sent it back. He’s doing like me and using smoke tubes and loves it. I actually hated my Traeger at first because I’m used to a strong rich smoke flavor. I started playing around with an adjustable smoke tube I got from Lowe’s and although it was more noticeable that just the pellets it wasn’t enough. I had a couple of smoke boxes that I used from time to time on my gas grill but it only had air holes in the two doors on the top. I drilled a bunch of holes on all the other sides, edges and back. It’s so much better and a great flavor. I use all three if I’m smoking a butt and two if smoking ribs. You can put “smoke tube” into the search and I’ve got some pictures and I explain what/how I load them and light them. Really easy once you get the hang of it. Hope this helps!

I‘m a newbie so hopefully this is accurate. I have watched a few smoke tube videos and it appears placement is crucial. Placement directly under the meat can sometimes impart a bitter flavor. Placement on the sides can have little impact depending upon the side of the smoke stack. Personally, I’m going to play with different brands of pellets and mix them before adding a tube.
