My "free" Pro 780 is going to leave me broke!

Grillgrates were my best addition . I will put a rib eye in the smoker until an internal of 110, out and rest until my gas bbq heats up the grates, somewhere around the 350 mark. On with the rib eye 2 mins on each side (depending on taste) turning 90 degrees once in that 2 mins. The extra benefit is you don't burn a whole lot of pellets bringing your temp up to 400

Same here, I not only have 10 types of Pellets, also 10x 5 gal buckets w/ lids, Pellet Sifter, a shed to put them in, Grill Grates, Fireboard 2, Cast Iron Pans, Foil pans (4 sizes), rubs and sauces, new grill tools, High temp gloves, Insulation kit... Now I am buying a lot more Meat in bigger sizes, at least 1x15-19 lb brisket every 2 weeks, Ribs in vac packs, Salmon, whole chicken, Pork butts and Pork Belly.... the problem is that it is so good....
But yes the grill is just a starting point and I traded my Costco Grill in for a Timberline in about 6 weeks ( another story), I am afraid to add up all the stuff that I bought... ( BTW there are only 2 of us left in the house)
Wow. I thought I was the only one who got all that stuff. It’s like you had a look in my garage. All I know is when I had the UDS things were a lot simpler and cheaper. Bag of charcoal, hickory chunks and a starter.

If there were many more you wouldn't have been able to afford all that stuff.

I feel your pain. I haven't even received my Timberline 1300 yet (ordered it a week ago), and I have also bought:
  • Grill cover and liners
  • Fireboard 2 plus probes and base
  • Grill grates
  • Pellets (3 x 40 lb bags)
  • Thermapen MK4 (my old instant-read died two weeks ago)
  • Bucket Head vacuum for cleaning the grill out
I'm sure there is something I'm missing and I know I'll be buying more, but this is a good addiction. I think. lol

And don't forget all the sauces, rubs, seasonings, spices, sugars and other ingredients needed to complete your outfit. You're just getting started! (y)

He probably also needs to start thinking about getting some good cast iron as part of the new collection of toys, as well.

And aluminum pans of various sizes, Pellet storage containers..................... Yes, we all have spending problems!

Fortunately, I have all that already. I have been smoking using non-Traeger boxes for several years so I have acquired a lot. There will always be more to buy as I run out or want to try new flavors, though.

I ordered my Century 885 at my local CostCo store on a Friday, 4 December 2020. It was delivered on 19 January 2021 and had a burn in on 22 January 2021. It was an impulse $1,100 purchase. If I knew then what I know now, perhaps my choice would have been much different..

What would you have done differently?

Probably nearly double the cash outlay with a Timberline model 1300. So I am working on making the best of the situation with lots of tech calls and forum reading and inquires.
