Hey all, just joined today. I have been smoking for a while now, started with a Weber 18-inch Smokey Mountain Cooker and was so bad I can't believe I didn't give it all up! But it is when I discovered the greatest education tool in history - YouTube. First lesson - you can't smoke without a thermometer. Can you believe it didn't have one? Eventually figured it out and then got a Green Egg. Still have that but got a Traeger last year. I have figured out how to do low and slow and also just grill with the Traeger while using the Green Egg for certain cooks. I highly recommend the Grill Grates (https://www.grillgrate.com/) for grilling steaks et al on the Traeger. Looking forward to learning a lot here.
Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you've come a long way from your early days with the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker! It’s amazing how YouTube has become such a game changer for learning new cooking techniques, especially when it comes to smoking. The addition of a thermometer really does make all the difference, doesn't it? I'm sure the Green Egg and Traeger combo gives you a lot of versatility in your cooks. I’ve heard great things about Grill Grates too they really seem to take grilling steaks to the next level. Looking forward to hearing more about your experiences and sharing some tips along the way!
