Junior Elite is overheating, stopping, etc.

Yes, you could certainly do that, however, I leave pellets in my hopper all the time (I’m in humid Texas) and have never had problems with bad pellets. I use my Traeger at least once or twice a week though, so if you aren’t going to use it for a while, I suggest cleaning out the hopper and the auger tube.
Quick question…
When you had the shutdown, was the Traeger in the sun, and what was the outside ambient temp?

I plan on using it pretty regularly once I figure it all out.

It was under my patio. It had rained off and on so a bit humid out. Mid to upper 80s
When you cleaned it out, did you make sure that the auger tube was totally clear of old pellets and dust, and that the holes in the fire pot are clear. If the fire is suddenly going out, sounds like the auger is not feeding enough pellets to keep the fire burning. I’m assuming the fan is running, probably wouldn’t even come to temp if it weren’t.

It relit on it's own after dropping way down. I almost feel like it's feeding too many at some point and then it has to struggle to burn them away then once they are burned off it's like a flame thrower and takes a while to throttle back down. I was able to get the model number and serial number so I will call Traeger and see if it's still under warranty.

So I called Traeger and we did some troubleshooting. The temp was reading 20 degrees above the outside temp before the grill was ever turned on. Then once started the auger continued to feed pellets non stop. End result is they are sending me a new RDP and Controller so hopefully after that it will all be like new again!

I have the same exact issues and I’m in SoCal. Temp goes sky high past the preset whether it’s summer or winter. Randomly shuts off with error code. Traeger replaced the probe for free which helped at first, but now I’m back to square one. I vacuum it out regularly to no avail. Super annoyed how much I spent to deal with problems. Maybe a bigger model would fix this, as I see most people with bigger models. Not happy coming to check on my meat, to see the dang thing is shut off.

Did the replacement RDP & Controller solve your issues?
