Didn't have much time today but I Wanted to try out my new fireboard so I did some quik burgers with it for supper. Everything connected very easily to my home network "my wifi sucks". Mounted the ambient grill probe right next to traeger probe. Fired her up, 180 to get some smoke, traeger consistently about 25 degrees off. Cranked heat to 400 to finish burgers and still 25 to 35 degrees off. Looking forward to accurately reading temps from now on! I absolutely love the graphed cooks! In short, this thing is awesome!

Oh and my trager temps were 25 - 35 degrees low in case anyone was wondering

does the fibreboard actually control the pellet auger? or is it just a great thermometer and you all just adjust to temp on your Traeger PID to reflect what you see on the fireboard?

No, the FireBoard does not control the Traeger. It’s just a very accurate thermometer. I use mine to monitor the internal temp of the protein, and the pit temp.

I see you also got the competition probes. The shorties are great for things like burgers and ribs...

Ok, I think I get it - so you adjust your Traeger controls to correct the temps to match you fireboard readouts ( ignoring the the Traeger PID temp readouts)

Correct. And most of us don’t use the Traeger meat probe for the same reasons.
plus the FireBoard records your cooks, and gives you a nice graph, so you can keep an eye on your cook

It also has enough channels that you can monitor more than one cooker if place close enough together.

Are those the original Traeger screws or did you need to put in longer ones?

you can easily use the original ones, if you don't remove them like some combat warrior

Thanks. I've got my Fireboard, but still waiting on my grill, so I keep busy planning the first 1000 things I want to do.

It'll probably be easier to remove the screws if I do this mod before I start cooking with the grill, so it sounds like I won't need to use my impact driver. :p

I did mine like this.

Yep. Original screws, just drilled some holes in the clip that came with fireboard. Had to bend it a touch.
Yes, competition probe.
