I just registered to this Forum and am anxious to learn some of the knowledge here. My wife & I have lived down here on the Oregon Coast for just over 20 years. I am 66 years old and have always enjoyed BBQing. Three or four months ago my wife won a Traeger Trailhead from her employer (thus I have a new toy). I have heard quite a few stories over the years about how awesome these smokers are. I am still struggling to get this thing mastered but refuse to give up. Getting the pellets to feed consistently seems to be a problem. Using Traeger pellets seems to make a significant difference. Happy to be here.

Welcome! You’ll find a ton of great info and advice on here. I don’t know anything about the Trailhead, I have a 780 pro and haven’t experienced any issues with the pellets feeding. I don’t use the Traeger pellets I usually use Kirkland from Costco. I’m sure someone experienced in your problem will chime in and help you figure it out. Post up some pictures of your cooks, we’re a picture hungry bunch on here!

I smoked some New York steaks the night before last. I do believe I might be getting this this thing figured out.

Awesome! I know it’s hard to think about taking a picture after waiting on things to cook drooling with enjoyment of tasting your wonderful creations, but we’re going to be wondering just how good those steaks looked! Lol

The pork loin fillet was the most successful attempt yet. It was awesome and only took a little over two hours at 275! The mesquite was a wonderful choice with a garlic & herb marinade. I want to experiment with some more of these.

Looks great! It’ll all start coming together. Just gotta find what works and tastes best for you and your family!

Today I have a jalapeno marinated beef tri-tip that I am currently smoking with mesquite pellets. I have only used the meat probe maybe three times and today it will not display the temperature (the machine doesn't seem to recognize the probe). The timer does not display either. Is there a reset on this this Trailhead machine and is it possible that the temperature probe died already? Other than the challenges today, I am finally getting this Traeger thing figured out a bit more successfully.
