Gen 2 Controller in Gen 1 Timberline 1300

OUTSTANDING !!!
I am really glad someone knew what they are talking about !!
Thank you so much RemE. Very glad to know that. That said, a wifi connection is not my biggest concern, doubt I would even use the wifire, even though their modem is just on the other side of the wall then the smoker.. Then the wire is inconsequential to me, hope it was for something that I didnt need like that !!

oddly enough I was just about to pull my Indian candy off the smoker & I thought I would share a pic. I used a simplified version of:

"Bradley smokers Incredible Candied Smoked Salmon Recipe",

not

"Bradley smokers Candied Salmon Recipe",

that is totally different and not what I was going for...

There just seemed way too many flaw’s with traegers Indian candy & the recipe for the glaze was way better than traegers too...

This was a really unique process for me, learned a lot. So I put the pieces of salmon on this bed of brown sugar and salt mix, layer on bottom, then over salmon pieces repeated four or five layers to fill the pot, using three bags brown sugar and cup or so of salt mixture. Within an hour in the fridge, the salt and brown sugar bed/mix had removed most of the water from the salmon and it was now like this salmon stew with the pot having no liquid in it at first to the whole pot continents being liquid, what a trip. Seemed like the properties that salt & sugar removed damn near all the water from that fish did more than half the job of the smoker needed to do before I even put the fish on the racks. Really firmed those fish pieces right up. Lowest temp, highest smoke the whole way, only thing I would recommend is to put last coat of glaze on at least an hour before turning off smoker, gives it time to harden, and not still be sticky. Cook to as hard or soft as you want, makes no difference to me, taste is exactly the same.

This stuff is like Sees Candy Salmon, instead of Sees Candy Nuts & Chews, & just as hard to stop from eating it all at once too.

I changed out my controller on my 620, the only thing that was different from one controller to the other was this brass screw in connector, never did figure out what it was for, since it was not on the original controller. It could be what was mentioned above, for an external power source. Either way, it didnt affect the operation of the smoker, not hooking it up to anything. Its that long wire pictured with the screw in brass connector. If anyone knows what this is for, please let me know, I couldn't find it on any of treagers literature.View attachment 4219
Just for clarification: it was a gen 1 controller you changed out? I’m looking into the workability of this on a gen 1 Timberline 1300 I just picked up. Maybe even looking for a donor gen 2 1300 for direct drive parts if possible. I had a d2 century 885 and the thermostat control was much tighter than the one on my 1300.

Hi, I really don't know, it was very hard to find the exact model number of the controller I used, or the one I replaced. I used a model number of the controller from a website that said its the traegers model number, but not sure it actually was, then they took it off their site. check out the other thread I posted a little while ago when I swapped mine, there are pictures of the controllers I swapped...
