Fire

I cook lots of burgers, pork chops etc but not on my Traeger. I do cook spatchcock chicken on it but not boneless breast.

Cool, yeah all good. So, does anybody cook burgers, steak, chicken, etc? On the Traeger? Not even grill them, but, cook a decent burger?
I smoke them on occasion. They turn out good.

I cook steak and chicken on the Traeger all the time. However, I do so at low temperature. Then, if I want some browning, I sear the protein on a different appliance. In some cases, it might even be in a carbon steel skillet on my gas stove in the kitchen.

I sear on a cast iron in my weber

My Webber has the side burner, works great for searing in my cast iron skillet and frying in as well.
Mine does as well…..but honestly I just put it inside the cook chamber

I LOVE my burgers on Traeger.
They turn out very unique and can be quite juicy even if pink is gone.
Learned to eat them from a local deli who cooked burgers on Traeger and had them ready for lunch.

Yep. They are different. I don’t always do them on the Traeger, but it’s good when I do. Sometimes I straight grill, sometimes I smash and sometimes I do them on the 575. Just completely different profiles.

I had a bad grease fire this weekend I have a Traeger Timberline. Had a grease fire under the hood. After it burned out I noticed grease running out of the cabinet. I had a second grease fire in the cabinet. The hot embers lit the grease in the catch can and the flames melted the plastic release button which caused the bucket tor release and spill. If I wasn't present the fire could have caught my home on fire. I had deep cleaned it a week earlier. I did a 14 hour brisket at 200 degrees It must have let out a lot of grease. However, the can should have a full metal latch that won't melt. I put a 10 gallon steel pail under my catch can so if this happened again the catch can would fall into the bucket. This is my 3rd Traeger. I liked them better when the can was on the outside of the machine so you could see it easily. If you have a timberline or any machine with an internal grease can check it early and often. I reported the plastic latch issue to Traeger. Hopefully they will come out with a better catch can.
