This reminds me a little of the home brew community. Most brewers, such as myself, enjoy the entire process, from designing our own recipes (or at least tweaking existing recipes), experimenting with different brewing processes, etc.
There are also brewers who like to buy kits and precisely follow the instructions for the convenience and comfort level. And taken a step further, some companies were coming out with all-in-one brewing machines that remind me of a bread machine - put in the premix, push a button, and the machine will automate through the entire process.
Traeger is certainly going for the "turn key" approach and targeting the BBQ'ers who want the convenience and comfort level experience it appears.
Been brewing for over 30 years...
