Design problem 850 fire hazard

My "hack" is inexpensive. It will keep grease from building up in the grill where it can fuel a fire. I understand your frustration, but what do you have to lose by trying what I suggest? A baking sheet can be purchased for around $10.

There may be something else going on, but eliminating this source of fuel should minimize the risk of fire.

You also might want to alter your forum profile to indicate your location to make it more useful than "Home". Perhaps you are like ET from the movie who wants to phone home in a galaxy far away. You do not have to post a specific location. I post my location as Chicago Suburbs, which gives other forum members an idea where I live, yet there are a couple of million people who live in the suburbs, so I do not compromise my privacy. Perhaps there is another Traeger forum member who might live close enough to you to provide more hands-on help than we can provide from a galaxy away.

You responded to a very old thread. Just because there were some issues back in 2018-2020 does not mean such issues are common today.

I appreciate your sharing hack to correct Traeger's issue. I had been using the foil product that Traeger sells for my specific grill and I think it actually made it worse. I know that I can probably rig some other sort of solution like you have suggested, but that is not my issue. Nor is my issue that the product does not work properly, that happens. What I have an issue with is that Traeger knows this and continues to simply say that I am not adequately cleaning my grill, which is just not true. I paid over $2k for this grill and it should work, it does not. My disappointment is, as I said, not that there is an issue that needs to be addressed, it is that Traeger refuses to address it and then blames me. I see in the new ones the grease system has been completely redesigned and it makes me wonder why that would happen if this system works. I am now in the process of designing a new outdoor kitchen and was considering upgrading to another newer Traeger, but now, I cannot trust that Traeger will be on my side if anything happens in the future so it is unlikely that I will use them. Very disappointing.
I wonder is it possible that that back recirculation area may be clogged? This panel is on the back of the T850 and held in place with16 small screws. Clean the panel, and the areas on the smoker related to it. There is a channel on the smoker that can be plugged with goo that is easy to clean out.

Be careful with this because mine has rusted out and Traeger has refused to cover it under warranty and tells me they don't sell the part because it's welded to the barrel but here it states there are screws???????
