Cleaning the Traeger?

Mine is always clean and literally tells me to clean it every time on start up.

I vacuum the ash out of mine after every cook and I even go to the extent of removing all pellets, clearing auger and of course vacuuming out the fire pot. After all of that it still pops up with a smart a$$ comment when I turn it on such as “fire pots don’t clean themselves” or “where’s the shop vac”. This grill certainly has a mind of its own.....Ironwood 650 about a month old

Here's what my Ironwood looked like after about a month's worth of use.

And after giving it a good vacuum.

I'm surprised to see surface rust around the fire pot already? I have always kept the grill in the garage after using it.
Looks like an ashtray with cig butts in it. LOL.

It's a wet year here in Austin. No surprise. If you are not going to use it for a while, I would spray some Costco cooking oil spray on the parts.

Traeger should put an hour meter on the grills with a dummy light to clean 'em. It would also be neat seeing your total cook hours!

I keep a cook log so that acts as my total cook hour meter lol. I clean it after most cooks.

I use the Buckethead from Home Depot to shopvac mine out every few uses.

I'll also vac it out before every long cook.

One sign that you need to clean it out is when ash starts to fall on your food & grate. :)

I just picked up a bucket head earlier in the week. It's easier than pulling out the big shopvac and fits better in my shed. My only gripe is the 4 foot hose. I will add a piece of hose to it.
