Cleaning the Traeger

Clean my grate and vacuum the dust out. Don’t want to mess with my seasoning. If I do I just wipe it out with a old cloth or paper towel. That it and wait until the next smoke.

First time I cleaned my grill, hit the temp probe and it disintegrated. Had to get a new one. But……cleaning the grill, where the food is, is key. The rest will look after itself, maybe a hoover out now and again, maybe a spritz of vinegar based cleaner on the grill. All in all I agree with letting the flavour stay inside the grill. Had an electric smoker for years and it was brown inside. Washed the doors and pans out……that was it.

Shortly after getting my IW, I broke the ceramic tip of my thermocouple. However, the thermocouple junction still looked good. I purchased a tube of high temp red silicone gasket cement and placed a couple of drops on the tip. I have used it that way ever since. I did purchase a spare in case it stops working.
