Sawdust you can find in any wood shop and wood chips they sell everywhere.

I’m not ever gonna use them but I’d think if you put them on top of the fire pot cover it would likely work.

I have some red oak pieces (sticks) that cut into about 3/4 inch slices and then used a hatchet to make chips. I put these in my smoke tube and use that in the Traeger.

I cut up my own red and white oak chips and chunks along with hickory from fallen trees/limbs on my property. I have a woodworking shop so I cut my chips with the bandsaw.

I would think the sawdust would smolder but I don’t think it would put out a good smoke flavor. I just stick with my smoke tube and smoke box.
