In June it will be 3 years since I purchased my 780. A brief history, Traeger replaced the first controller under warranty as it wouldn’t update and the temps weren’t even close and fluctuated off the charts. This was in Aug. 2020. The replacement controller was pretty close on set temp and ambient temp. ( on the controller) but was actually running about 15 to 20 degrees cooler according to my FireBoard. I’d set it to 200f and it would actually be running 185f.
After the begin of 2023 the ignite button start to have issues. 3 times I had to fiddle with it to get it to ignite. So I called Traeger CS, did a vid call and it acted up. So Traeger set a new one out under warranty. I installed it last Saturday and fired it up for an hour or so monitoring temp with my FireBoard.
And wouldn’t you know it. The new controller is doing the exact opposite of the old controller. I set temp at 185f and it was running right at 200f.
So I’m gonna have to run it through it’s paces before I start cooking on Saturday to see how it reacts.
