I recently purchased a 780 Pro grill and am a first time user. I was successful connecting the WiFire app to the grill and am about to cook my first brisket. I read from another thread that you cannot ignite the grill using the wiFire app. My question; can I set the initial temperature from the app or is this done from the controller on the grill ?

Once you hit the ignite button you can control the temps from your app. I always set mine on the grill since you have to hit the buttons anyway to get it lit up. At that point it would take longer to get the phone out and set it then it does to turn the knob since you are already there.

Thx

Would be nice to be able to ignite from the app, but I'm sure someone would burn their house down by mistake or melt their cover at the very least.

I am on board with the local ignition bit. My house wouldn’t look good on fire :)

To confirm - As I once it ignites I have total control of temperature and time from the app ?

Yeah, I am pretty sure it's a safety issue. I'm sure some product liability lawyer said, "NOPE!" somewhere down the line.

Yes.....as soon as the igniting process is initiated you can change temps, shut down or put in keep warm mode all from your phone. And that should work whether you're in your living room or across the globe.

I was At DFW and monitored my Brisket Cook then just before I left LAX for SFO I raised the Temp, I was home before it was done....
As said above you can't start it but once started you can do everything else ( accept Flip it...)

How’s you start it?

I got the wife on the phone and she set the brisket in the middle on the middle shelf, then set the temp to 180 and pushed the ignite button….
I took it from there, it doesn’t matter where you are, as long as you have the internet…..
