Hi all,

Long time reader, first time poster. So I'm building a new home, and I'm having a pool and screened in lanai built in my back yard. Question is, how many of you use your Traeger under the a screened in enclosure, and does it cause any damage? I won't smoke close to the screen for heat purposes, I'm more worried about the smoke doing damage to the top of it. The enclosure is pretty much taking up my entire backyard, so no room to build a separate pad outside the screen. Any tips or advice?

Thanks!

Good question. Never had a Lanai, though sometimes in Texas I wish I had. Did a google search for ya and came up with this. Lots of good feedback on the same question.

I've been in my current home for almost 15 years, and my grills have been in the same spot for the entire time. That spot is below the screen's lowest point, about 11 feet (the apex is over the pool) and about 1 foot away from the house exterior. Thus far, no issues. That said, this is Florida...where the air is basically fetid water...and so I have to clean the screen every couple years due to mildew. Could I be cleaning damage from the smoke as well? Possibly, but I've never noticed it.

I suppose if it were an issue I'd consider picking up an oscillating fan so that the smoke isn't rising to the same spot all the time, but that's just the redneck in me talking.
