Hey Everyone, I have a can of Traeger Beef Jerky Rub and have found only one beef jerky recipe using it. Is this rub good for jerky or should I forget about it and use something else?
Thanks, Murf

IMO, don't use it 'exclusively'... I've used it in my liquid mix before, but not alone...

What's the recipe you saw???

Traeger Smoked Bourbon Jerky. It’s not in the app. Found it with a Google search.

Found this recipe and have all ingredients on hand:
Smoked Top Round Beef Jerky
3 pounds top round roast, thinly sliced
2 cups soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup pineapple juice
2 tablespoons sriracha *optional, add if you like it a little spicy
2 tablespoons red pepper flake *optional, add if you like it a little spicy
2 tablespoons hoisin
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
2 tablespoons minced garlic

That sounds like a nice recipe, odd that there's no bourbon in the ingredients?

I do have Jerky Rub on hand and plan on using some on my next batch, but I won't use it alone either.

RemE, the full recipe I posted has no bourbon. The Traeger Smoked Bourbon recipe calls for 1 cup of bourbon.

Here’s the Bourbon recipe using the Traeger Jerky Rub:
  • 3 Pound flank steak
  • 1 Cup bourbon
  • 1/2 Cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Traeger Jerky Rub
  • 1 Can chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • 3 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 Cup apple cider vinegar
