I can't seem to get my brand new Timberline XL to connect to the WIFI because of a "failure to download certificates." I've done all the power-up and down steps. Yes, I'm on a 2.4 gig network too. Any insights?

I had a hard time getting my 780 Pro to connect a few months ago. I live out in the country and no regular internet or land line phone. I use TMobile 5 g home internet. I have it setup to work with both 5g and 2.4. Problem I had was my phone had to be on the 2.4 during setup. Hopefully this will help, if it’s your issue.

This is my 3rd traeger with wifi. I'm familiar with the 2.5. ghz issue. I've done some research on this issue and think I need to just delete the app and reload it again. I noticed this morning they did an app update two weeks ago, so that may be the issue. I'll post an update when I get home and can try again.

As an aside, my experience with the Traeger "wifire" is that it is really weak and spotty. I suppose its the Achilles Heal of traeger the new traegers.

This is the first time I've gotten a certificates download issue.

We’ll, updating the app did the trick Trae Bar IV seems to be performing flawlessly now.

Despite the problems, I’m still part of the traegerhood and love there product!

Good to hear you've got it going! Yeah, the app has been a problem. I've re-installed the app and it still doesn't always work when trying to turn on SS or changing temp.

I’ve had problems with the Wi-Fi connection with both my previous Timberline 1300 and my current XL. The XL would stay connected to the app during the cook for about 30-45 min and then disconnect from the app. I think one of the tricks is to leave it plugged in and in standby mode even when not in use. I was told by Traeger it will keep any software updates current.

This is my second XL. My first one inexplicably stopped working (dead) on Thanksgiving, and tech couldn’t resolve the issue or come to my house for service, so they shipped a brand new one and took the old one away. It took a couple of days of phone tag but they stood behind there product and that is what has kept me staying in the Tragerhood. My customer service experience has been top-tier. Every person I have ever talked to seems genuine and wants to resolve any problems

I’m sure they will work out the Wi-Fi issues down the road. The new XL has stayed connected to Wi-Fi consistently since I update the app and the unit has updated its software.
