Timberline 1300
I recently purchased a Timberline 1300 from an older gentleman who was moving into an RV full time. He had done the majority of his cooking without ever updating the firmware and had never even connected the wifi antenna. I purchased the wifi antenna from Traeger and installed it.

My current software version is 01.01.05. The config version is 07.004.

I am running the latest version of the app on my iPhone. I go through the process of connecting the app. It connects to my 2.4 GHz network just fine. After about 30 seconds the Traeger wifi settings screen goes back to the screen that just tells the wifi info. My network is no longer shown.

The app on my iPhone continues to finalize and allows me to name my grill and then says it's saved but when I click on grills it takes me right back to the start of the connection setup.

I've contacted Traeger and they said I need to buy a new controller, which is $350. They won't replace it since it's a second-hand purchase, which I understand. Any thoughts on if this controller can be updated?
Thanks

Since you purchased the Timberline from another user, the warranty is no longer valid.

I have an Ironwood and I am not even aware of a WiFi antenna except one built into the controller.

I do have my grill hooked up to my WiFI router and have the app installed on my phone and tablets, but the only thing I find it useful for is alerting me if the pellet hopper goes empty. Unless your grill comes with the wireless Meater thermometer probes, it is likely that the thermometers that came with the grill are inaccurate. I never use the Traeger app to monitor my cooks. I use third party thermometers and never even plug in the Traeger probe. Many other forum members do something similar. I set the controller temperature to achieve the desired cook temperature in the chamber based on third party thermometers.

As long as other features of the controller are functioning, it is certainly not worth the price just to acquire WiFire capability.
