Temperature Not Correct

Hey all,

First post - thanks for listening.

I have a 575 Pro. When I fired it up today I set the temp to 225 to slow cook some ribs. Once it started up the current temp displayed 216 and climbed from there to over 300. Obviously that temperature was wrong as I just started it up - temp should have started around 80-85 and gone up from there instead of starting at 216.

I then shut it down and went through the the shut-down cycle and let it cool down completely. Started it again and it did the same thing, except that this time it stayed around 255.

What would cause this and should I worry. It's brand new - only used it three times. Any help would be appreciated.

Bad or dirty RTD, or bad controller.
Is you pit in the sun?
What was the outside ambient temp at the time?

Hey - thanks for the response. It was cloudy out and the air temp was 75.

What is a RTD?

RTD is the ambient temp probe inside the Traeger. Very easy to damage if you aren’t careful, especially when removing/replacing grill racks.
