Tailgater control pad does not work

I have a new tailgater. The center button on the control panel only works to turn it off and on. All I can do is change the temperature up and down. But the machine makes its own temperature as it feels. I cannot use the center button to interact with the probe. Nor can I get the timer function to show up. Maybe I am pressing the button wrong. It seems Like a button should just be able to be pushed. I think this control panel is faulty. I have seen other people post the same problem on this forum and there has been no resolution. Traeger can you help with this seemingly faulty technology?

I found that if I press the centre button really quickly it sometimes (1/3) will go to the timer and then press again and it will go to the probe temp. The other times 2/3 goes to the shut down. I just bought a 20$ thermometer from Walmart to save me the headache. And I use a cell phone timer. I think it’s stupid when products have more than one function per button.
