Hi all,
I have a Reqteq 340 at my parents place. It gets used heavily for about 3 weeks and done for the season.
What I like about it is the following.
1) SS drip pan that's nice. Galvanized steel will rust. Then you can get rust flakes in you food. Would I be willing to buy one yes but probabally go to client who does SS work in the HVAC and get it made from 304 SS and solve this problem
2) Sell a silicone drip tray. ReqTec does but not for the 1000 Backyard beast.
Pro:
Clean up fast and simple once done
A Snap in design reduces risk of getting food fluides behind the pan as can with the Al Drip trays.
No throwing away Aluminum drip liners Aluminum is the the most recyclable metal.
Environmentally more sustainable.
Reduced warranty claims on the drip pan and corrosion. SS would solve a lot of this
Somthing to sell but at a higher price point.
Salts will not corrode through like it does with AL.
A dominant majority of people use AL foil anyway because of cost of of the drip trays.
It can be very thing like the Copper Infused mats by Yoshi. They do not have one big enough, Will find something and go to a Place and make the clips to hold it in place
Reduced inventory costs.
Reduced risk of not having the part in stock
Temperature not an issue since Reqteq can go to 700 Deg so that means it withstand the heat
People with Older grills would be or have an interest in getting one so the market is broader than current grills
Something else for the Retailers to sell and make a modest profit.
The can easily get to the same temp as the grill they are used a lot on grills. I use one.
Con:
Don't get to sell as many of the Al consumables. Sell the razor and make the money on the blades but most go to AL. I used one drip tray my TFS series grill. The other pan liners are still under the grill. Will never use the tray liners that came with it because
On the Silver ton XL series grills with and integrated hopper it might take a bit longer to heat but I have found its slower than the older B series that I got. So its a so what.
Once hot it does not make any difference
