I have an older Pro-22 Traeger. Love it! Have never made anything I didn't like.

Here's the thing though, sometimes I'd like to clean it up really well, and would love to bring the grate in and wash it. It's too big for my dish washer, it's too big for my sink. All I can do when it needs a really good scrubbing is sit it over my sink and make a mess from hell. I've been tempted so many times just to grab a hacksaw and cut it in half so that it's two pieces and will then fit in my dishwasher. But I don't want to break that nice coating up. With over four years of use it still has a nice non-stick finish. Sauce though, tends to burn on it and then sometimes will require me to bring it inside and make that huge mess that the wife yells at me about.

I've looked many times for a tub that would fit the thing, so I could soak and scrub it outside but have not found anything big enough.

So, my question, does anyone know if there are grates available of the same quality that are half size so that two grates would fit on my Traeger in place of the one big grate?

I use oven cleaner. Preheat grates in the oven to about 100. Spray on. Let sit for the recommended time. Wipe off.

I'll give that a try if it gets bad. I've always used the scrubbing sponges that are for non-stick and use a brass cleaning brush when they are on the grill, so the coating is in good shape. I generally have good luck just brushing them off during the warmer months, but in the winter when I want to use it less I like to give it a good clean before putting a cover over it. That's when cleaning is a pain.

agreed. I building a rack so I can use a pressure washer on them in the summer. On lawn.

I put a 3 basin stainless steel sink in the basement for winter cleanup

Keep looking for that plastic tub that is what I would do. Home Depot has a big range that would be suitable.

SUV bed liner works for me. I also use it as a place to put my grates for all my grills when I'm cleaning the grills. Keeps em from marking up the table or bench and they are not leaning on something.

Never clean my grate. Hit it with a wire grill brush then cook.

I have been told that since the grates are enamel you can put them in a self cleaning oven. That said I have never tried it. Also wife said that I had better not try it in HER oven. Lol
