Grill
Silverton 620 (Costco Edition)
Anyone who has owned a Traeger for a while knows how bad it sucks when you're in the middle of cooking and either a) your grill runs out of pellets (SOLVED with the pellet monitor and filling it up every time I cook lol), and b) your grill looses power for one reason or another.

Since the Wifire Technology connects the grill up to the cloud, there is this magical function called ALERTS! And when you have cloud connected devices, when they loose connection, they are able to alert you. Almost every connected device I own alerts me if power is lost. Unfortunately, the Traeger does not.

It seems like a pretty simple enhancement, the cloud would be monitoring your grill for power, and if power loss occurs in the middle of cooking you get an alert "Your Traeger is offline". Same thing with the pellet sensor, the cloud could push an alert to your phone when the pellets are down to a set %, say 15 percent "your grill is running low on pellets!"

Anyway, just my 2 cents, is there any way to get these enhancements in front of the product team that is developing the Wifire platform?

I have gotten an alert that said connection to the grill has been lost
Pellet sensor gives a warning at 25%.
I have gotten both of those on my android phone

Wow! Well it looks like they left us iPhone owners out in the cold, the Traeger app doesn't even show in the notification settings on my iPhone, so there is no way to turn the notifications on for it. It's probably a simple fix for them to enable it in the app, would be very nice! Turns out tonights mishap was due to the OhmHour folks shutting off power to all my smart plugs including the one the Traeger is plugged into! NO MORE, removed the smart plug, not worth the power savings rebates. :)

I get alerts just fine on my iPhone.
Alerts are controlled from the app, and the Traeger app is also in the Notifications section under settings on iPhone. IOS 14.4

Losing power sucks when you are in the middle of a cook. Been there, done that. I've solved that problem with an inexpensive refurbed UPS. I can get over an hour of run time for power outages which is plenty of time to finish a cook or fire up the Big Green Egg to finish it the old fashioned way.

A UPS will also protect your Traeger from spikes & surges as well. $29.99 will set you up.

Wow that is AWESOME! I'm going to get two, one for my Traeger and one for my NAS in the living room (I can't believe I haven't gotten one yet for the NAS!). Thanks for the suggestion! Here's a silly question (and I know most electricians will probably cringe!), do you think it's ok to plug an extension cord into the UPS to run to the Traeger? The Traeger is out on my balcony which is exposed to the elements and I'm pretty sure the UPS wouldn't like that much - but... I do have the Silverton 620, so I could put the UPS inside the cabinet.

Thanks for sharing!!! It looks like this won't show up on your iPhone until you go into the Traeger App and turn on notifications, then it will ask for permission and add it to the notifications control panel. Yay!

Actually, it asks for permission as soon as you sign in to the app for the first time. I didn’t have to go into the app settings and turn it on.

No problem using an extension cord from the UPS, I use one when it's wet out and keep the UPS in the garage.

Don't go cheap on the one for your NAS. I have a Synology NAS and it supports APC UPS's with a USB cable, so when power goes out, my Synology box powers down gracefully.
