Smoke Tubes: Pellets vs. Wood Chips

I've been using pellets in Smoke Tubes for extra smoke for years and this week tried using hickory chips with some pellets intermixed.

Results: Great smoke, but smoke time was cut in half for a 12 inch tube.

Howzit working for others using wood chips?

I use wood chips exclusively. one hour burn time.

You should know by now I use bourbon barrel chips and cherry chips with Apple pellets, mine still last up to 4 hours and since I own 3 tubes I can go in succession if I need to

I use a mix of hickory and pecan chips with just a few pellets. I pack them down pretty tight in the tube. I get a great smoke for 3-4 hours.
