Silverton XL
Hi Just got the silverton XL.

I was told the Grates will fit in the Dishwasher. They do not and its a GE Profile series. The TFSBJZPD would.

1) Can a 3 part grate be made to go into the dishwasher.

The grease down tube.

TFS model the item was one solid piece with welds. This one is held with cheap aluminum pop rivets.

2) can they go back to ones that are welded. I could food grade Silicone to seal the Silverton because the salts from cooking a brined turkey to brisket will eat those rivets alive.

Low use of Stainless steel.

While the grill offers up a 7 year warranty for paint blistering and rust thought, use of SS on the Pan, Side Panel and the top of the hopper collector will reduce warranty claims. Galvanized does not hold up. I was initially told that the silver metal was SS but its not. That is one gripe bout the BF series was the heavy rust. SS of the thickness they use is nominally more expense but will increase the life of the unit and at the same time reduce the amount of Tragers going into the waste stream and ending up in a Land fill.

3) Welds to join liners. The should all be caulked and not all for grease collection. I will fix that via the silicone rubber. it will make it easier to clean and less risk of salt accumulation. Heat expansion and contraction will crack the paint seal.

4) Electronics warranty. The new unit is complicated far more than the older one. Why not offer a warranty to 7 years and have that as a special pd option. I would do it at 45 bucks since the D2 controller costs 40. Maybe even extend to 8 and beat everyone in the industry and return to leadership.

5) Longer Cord Please, Split cord risks rain problems or got to buy a seal kit.

It might be asked why did I get this one and just not stay with what I had. New is supposed to be better and I like the open design because wife can get to it without burning her arms as she is short. I have been able to cook up to 3 full brisket flats at one time or a heavy 16 with ease.

6) Side Shelves. Ok the wood one is a joke. The other side is ok but on the BF series it was SS and larger. Yes will show the creosote because SS but still great because can put a large pan there and saved me more than once from having a Brisket end up on the ground
