Ridgeland 572
Got a Ridgeland 572 from QVC. a few years back. Going to try to smoke a 10 lbs brisket. Meat Church recommends heavy smoke setting. Does the Ridgeland 572 offer this functionality? If so how do I do this setting?

Unfortunately no. Only the high end (expensive) ones do. I really don’t think it will make much difference. Go to Lowe’s and get you a Maze smoke tube, it’ll help somewhat depending on your expectations of smoke flavor. They say start off cooking with low temperatures (below 200) for a period of time (depending on meat choices) will be about the same as the smoke setting but I haven’t notice any differences below 200 to say 250 but my 780 doesn’t have the super smoke either. You can find a lot of great information on here, just have to search around for it a little.

A lot depends upon your expectations for smokey taste. I have an Ironwood 885, which does have the super smoke setting, but I have never used it. I came to pellet grills from using gas grills with the addition of a smoker box, so the smoke taste from the pellets is enough for me. I purchased a couple of smoke tubes, but only used them one time as I found the taste too strong. If you are used to the smokey flavor from an offset smoker then you might get closer to that flavor with the smoke tubes.
