What is the best way to remove pellets from the trap door without making a huge mess. Have tried some containers to catch them but they fall all over. Would a larger 5 gallon Home Depot bucket work? What does everyone use? Thanks !

I've only one this like twice in a year and a half, but yes I use a five gallon bucket and don't have a problem. There are some folks around here that have purchased an attachment for the job, but the bucket works fine for me.

Thank you!

Thank you!
Sure thing. Here's one thread. There's a lot more. There's a "must have accessories" thread somewhere that I think may have a link to something on amazon.

Im with @CMTiger i just empty mine into a bucket with little problem. I also don’t empty the hopper unless there is a problem with the grill.

I’ve emptied mine twice. Once because my wife’s cousin bought a bag of the Traeger turkey blend he wanted me to try last year at thanksgiving and this past Christmas when I bought some BM oak pellets I wanted to try for the brisket. Otherwise I just use what is there and refill as needed….usually with BM Hickory.

Which BM did you prefer ? The oak or hickory.. I just purchased both and thinking of mixing them for a Dino/Beef rib cook. I’ve never been able to tell the difference honestly.

I can’t really tell the difference either.

When I lived in NY I used to heat my house with a wood stove. I could tell the difference between oak and maple. I have three different pellets in my hopper now. I did a brisket and rib roast with them. When they run out I'll go with BM hickory or oak.

This works for me.

I use a small 3 gallon wet dry vac and suck all of them out. Take a 1 gallon zip lock and put them in there. If here are just a few left I use a small plastic scoop.
