I have my 3yo’s birthday tomorrow. I’ve determined I need to do about 3 pork butts at about 6-7 lbs each. Can I fit them all on my pro575.

Also, should I anticipate a longer cook time based on this many? Planning for 9-10 hours on the shorter end at 225. But want to make sure I’m not way off and have hungry guests. Planning on finishing them with 3 hours of rest time so I have flexibility.

Idk for sure, but I would think so. If you're using pans then pans are a bit more bulky.....just the butts though I think should fit.

As long as your pork butts are not crammed together, they should cook in a normal amount of time. Part way through the cook, check the internal temp of all three. Then switch the positions of the two that are most and least hot to compensate for any temperature variations across the grill.

What final temperature do you plan to reach? You should cook to a minimum of 165 F, but if you want pulled pork, you can go somewhere around 205 F. Doing the entire cook unwrapped will yield the greatest smoke flavor, but will take the most time. If necessary, you can wrap the butts in foil or butcher paper to retain moisture and speed up the cook. If you do wrap the pork, be sure to keep it wrapped until your final temp is reached as the temperature will plummet when you unwrap it and release steam. You can unwrap it and cook a while longer if you want a firmer bark.

Thanks everyone, I’m going to 205 IT unwrapped. Then I will wrap in foil, towel and stick in the cooler until lunchtime.

Ended up with 4 total, my store had 2 really large butts and two small. My wife wanted to make sure we could feed everyone.

Little nervous on the small ones as they are 4ish lbs. never done them that small. Thinking cook time should be 7 hours?

I think you can squeeze 4 in the main rack, but you can also consider placing the 2 small ones on the upper rack. Note that the upper will usually be warmer than the lower one. You can also rotate them to maintain even temperatures as they cook.

I know it is late but consider putting them in tonight at a lower temperature (about 190) and then increasing it to 225 in the morning. That way they should be done by 1-2 pm giving you ample time for resting before serving.

Actually planning on serving at 11:30am. I have two 9 lbs butts and two 4 lbs. in my experience the bigger ones take about 10-11 hours to get to 203 but I’m not sure about the 4 lbs butts.
