Plastic on Thermocouple

I have a new Traeger pro 780 and notice a red plastic over the temperature probe for the grill. This probe protrudes into the grill from the controller side. Shoul I remove this plastic and if so how ?

Yep that needs to come off before you use it. I believe its on there just to protect probe tip during shipping and assembly. pull straight out, It should slide right off.

Just spoke with Traeger Support and the looked at the photo and said it looked ok. I am grilling right now and it seems to be working fine.
