Hi and thanks for the add, my name is Tim and I own a 3d printing business that I run on the side All Layered Up 3D, LLC When I bought my pellet smoker one of the first things I found to dislike about it was changing out the pellets to a different flavor. I ended up with a garage floor covered in pellets instead of in the 5 gallon bucket I intended them to empty into. I immediately started designing a magnetic chute to go over the hopper hole and direct the pellets into the bucket rather than bounce all over the place. This chute is 3d printed out of petg plastic which holds up to higher temperatures than the typical pla filament and has embedded magnets to hold the chute against the hopper. Being magnetic, it also makes for easy removal when not in use and can be stored elsewhere on the hopper or anywhere metal(except the barrel or anywhere that sees high temperatures).
I am not familiar with every model of Traeger smokers and I do know that the pellet dispenser hole varies on different models. So what I did was went to home depot and tested it on all their display models and those are listed in the pictures of my etsy store. The opening on the chute between the magnetic mount is 4.5" wide so as long as your door is not wider than that then it should work. Due to the design on some models having a taller door/hole than it is wide, the chute needs to be placed at the bottom of the door, and then slid up to the bottom edge of the hole as you are opening the door. You can also use the door to control flow of the pellets and direct them down into the chute to prevent bouncing over the top of the chute. More information and a video is included in the etsy store listing as well. Any questions feel free to ask and if you need anything else 3d printed please let me know.
Just want to include that these are made to order and take around 15 hours each to print(3d printing is a slow process). However I do try to keep items such as this made ahead of time and currently have a dozen or so ready to ship. If I have them in stock they will ship next day, otherwise it will take a couple days before shipment if they have to be printed.

Question: I just bought your Traeger Hopper Chute, you mentioned that the L-shaped bracket might need to be removed. there aren’t any screws, looks like it is glued or welded in place, QUESTION - so how is it removed?
QUESTION - what is it used for?

thanks in advanve for your response

Hello,

On the Ironwood 885 that bracket is held on by a screw on the bottom. That is the model of grill that is in my picture and the only one of the models that I had available for testing that had that bracket. I believe someone mentioned to me that the bracket is used to hold the power cord? I am not entirely sure of it's purpose to be honest. The chute can be used with the bracket in place(again I tested on the Ironwood 885 and assume your model is the same setup as far as positioning) however you will lose some pellets when you initially open the door and get the chute in place. With the bracket removed you are able to put the chute below the door and slide it up into place as you slowly open the door.

Thank you and please let me know if you have any other questions,

-Tim

Thank you for your rapid response, yes am sure you are right about it being for the power cord, will see if it is a bother or not

This looks like a great solution. Thank you for posting. It looks very solid.

Would you consider making the same chute, but with an open top? I've been using this home-made chute, but it's not as strong as yours. There is no issue with the door clearance opening on a Traeger Ironwood 650.
