New Traeger Announcement - January 16th

There hasn't been anything really innovative or new to the industry in years. I don't expect that to change with any announcements from anyone. The last couple of years, it's been changes/upgrades to the high-end grills from Traeger. It would be nice if they gave some love to the entry-level group of grills to get them caught up. Sales for grills are relatively flat, so they need to do something to draw in some business.
I don't think the meater acquisition brought in the business they were expecting. I'm not sure about the impact on sales from the griddle they introduced.

A true smoker maybe? You know, like a stick burner?!?! Hahaha

I probably can’t afford it anyway, so I’m not getting too excited.

A pellet grill/griddle combo?

Maybe a pellet grill with dual fire pots for faster heat-up times, quicker temperature recovery, and enhanced smoke flavor?

Okay, I gave this some thought. What kind of grill could they release that would interest me to upgrade? I looked at their upgrades to their Timberline and Ironwood models and didn't see anything that would convince me to do so.

Here is what I would be interested in: something to add more smoke. At the somewhat lower end would be something like the Camp Chef Woodwind Pro, which allow you place a small wood split to produce the smoke. At the higher end something like the Lone Star Grillz, which allow you to send in wood chips with the pellets to the firepot.

Both are effective in increasing smoke without having to use smoke tubes. I have gotten used to using smoke tubes, but they are still a pain to deal with, particularly when you are cooking a lot. A system providing smoke in another way is very attractive.

They have bought out Gen 2 Timberline and Ironwood models, so how's about a Gen 2 Pro series announcement, so many "big" company announcements are more hype than reality and whilst a revamped Pro series would be welcome I suspect the reality wont meet the video hype re 40 years in the making?

Ah, just done an internet trawl which comes up with the Traeger Woodridge?

Quite a few reviews relating to free product placements, hopefully there will be some genuine customer reviews before long? Does look like a nice bit of kit though and significantly bigger than the 575.

Or maybe this is just the start of something really BIG? Maybe a Woodbridge Elite! ;)

So there are 3 variants, the Woodridge, the Woodridge Pro and Woodbridge Elite... interesting comparison table on the Traeger website with the top model even having double walled insulation.

My Traeger dealer told me a few days ago they are discontinuing the Gen 1 Timberlines and Ironwoods, wonder if the same will happen with the old Pro range at some point?
