I purchased my Traeger 650 2 weeks ago, which is my very first pellet smoker. In the past, I have used propane exclusively for the past 35 years. I live in Vancouver, Canada and BBQ year round, so not unusual to see me out in the dead of winter pitch dark BBQing dinner. I used my Traeger for the first time last week to cook a sirloin steak using the Signature pellets....I know not very adventurous, but I am hoping to get there, with all the assistance this forum can provide. The steak was extremely tender, and very flavourful. Loved the smoky flavour, but admit it will take a bit getting used to as I have only tasted that smokey taste from the local Rib Fests that they have here once in a while.

I was surprised by the amount of pellets that I have used so far, but maybe most were used during the season and burn-in process. Will be interested in monitoring this as time goes on.

Really looking forward to exploring more recipes moving into the fall and winter.

Cheers,

I am over on the island. I have an IW650 as well. Pellet consumption isn't bad at all on mine. Especially compared to my Yoder.
Lots of great cooking on the Traeger. Enjoy your grill and this site. Lots of great people here that are very helpful
