Wanting to add the Flatrock to our backyard patio, but we really don't have a great spot for it on our stamped concrete due to the overall width of the folding tables extended. Was hoping to set it near our Ironwood 885 on the concrete, but it's just too wide. It can however sit nicely just adjacent to it, but I would need to either buy or build a landing pad for it as the area just off to the side is a mix of mulch, river rock and flagstone steppers.

Are there any pre-fab kits out there that I could consider? I'm a good cook, but a terrible contractor. There's river rock there currently for drainage purposes, but I could modify to fit something in there to accommodate. Just looking for some general guidance and something stable capable of handling the elements. Am I stuck with building something with pavers, or is there something else I should be considering?

Thanks in advance.

Here's a picture, so you can get a better idea of what I'm working with.

You could try searching for a HVAC condenser pad. Just not sure if you can get the right dimensions for the Flatrock.

Our HVAC guy used one of those pads too. I believe they are light. You can also look into a few flagstones.

For my griddle base, I use a piece of tile backerboard (3 ft x 5 ft) to which I cemented 12" x 12" ceramic tile. I then grouted the tile joints. If laying tile is not your thing, you could purchase two of the backerboards and the use tile adhesive to double the overall thickness. If you do not like the finish of the backerboard, you can always coat it with deck paint.

the most critical thing with griddles is that they need to be close to level. You do not want them perfectly level as it will be difficult moving oil and debris towards the grease trap. However, you also do not want the oil rapidly running to one side of the griddle surface. That is why I recommend having a sturdy base that use can use to level the legs of the griddle until you get the oil to flow like you want across the surface of the steel..

Home Depot as well as Lowes sell concrete pavers and have many different options as far as looks and sizes. I’m a contractor and I use the 24in x 24in often for areas to put grills on. You can get bags of small pebbles that you can build up a bed to keep the pavers level with your patio and they would be solid underneath.

I have my whole set up on Home Depot pavers
