Tito's Bronson 20
Hello from West Central Illinois! Kicked my Weber bullet to the curb and purchased a nice used older Traeger 22, not sure of the official designation but it was a Tito's Promo Model. Two cooks so far and two flameouts. So I'm batting 1000. Dis a quickie cleaning and started the first cook, the seller put some pellets in it for me so I thought I was good to go. Didn't realize that just below the grate, the hopper narrows and it had very few actual pellets in it. Ran dry, but luckily I had bought a bag so no real harm done. Pork butt burnt ends turned out just fine, will tweek the technique abit next time I make them. The second cook was a rack of ribs, which started out fine but had a flameout about an hour into the cook. Pulled everything off the smoker and did a deeper clean. Noticed a knob on the end of the heating element that I thought was a screw head, but was a 1/4" build-up of ashy crud. Scraped it down to the element and the rest of the cook was uneventful. Going to spend some time this week reading the site and trying to avoid some of those operational mistakes. I really like the Traeger and look forward to getting up to speed and expanding my smoking knowledge.
