Some of the results make perfect sense: tri tip in California and brats in Wisconsin. But how do you explain ribs in Texas, but filet mignon in North Carolina?! Also, so many states are into grilling asparagus!

I live in Illinois and am not at all surprised that pork chops came to the forefront. However, I used to live in Virginia where pork is as common as it is in Iowa. I cannot fathom why Virginians would be querying portobello mushrooms. However, it may be that Virginians are already so skilled at cooking pork that they have no need to ask for advice on that meat.

Possibly the searches are most likely done by complete novices who know little about cooking and nothing about BBQ. That’s my guess. Information is powerful but interpretation of the information is the real skill.

I like the fact they have burgers in the other category and not the "meat" category.

Salmon in Kansas? Who would have thought? 🤷‍♂️
I am sure that few people in Kansas know how to cook salmon since the state is known for its beef and not seafood. Thus, I do not find it surprising that people living there are looking for advice on how to cook salmon.
