Traeger Junior Tailgater
Greetings all!

I was gifted a junior tailgater last summer and it has been a treat to use. I have noticed that if I cook on any setting below 225 after about 2 hours the grill stalls and temps plummet. I can clean out the hopper pot and reignite no issues but twice today doing a brisket it did this. When I increased to 225 it was solid for remaining 5 hours of cook. All other cooks when I’m going 250 and over for many hours no issue.

It seems like the temp sensor is fine as it calls for pellets when needed and the auger moves them in. I have noticed the fan doesn’t seem to be constantly running when it’s failed which on an ac smoker it should be.

Do you think I should start with the fan replacement before anything else?

Cheers,

Cook at 250. There’s really no need to go lower except maybe timing. Just adjust your start time to compensate and you can use a healthy 2-4 hour rest as a buffer. 👍🏻🥃

I had similar issues of sorts when it wouldn't get up to 225 when warming up. I bumped it to 250, then after it reached that temp, lowered it to 225 and it stayed at 225 with no issues for 5hr of slow cook rib roast...
