I turn on my grill, set the temperature, and press ignite. The grill turns off. Anyone have a solution for when pressing the ignite button turns off the grill? I have tried power cycling, disconnecting and reconnecting to WiFi, taking off the cover and disconnecting and reconnecting the modulars. No luck.

Are there any pellets in the burn pot? I typically use the Auger prime feature to shove a few pellets into the pot. While that might not be needed after a normal shutdown, it is certainly helpful after cleaning out the pot.

Yes, there are pellets in the pot. I used the Auger load.

Remove the grates, drip tray, and flame shield from the grill and try to ignite the grill while you are looking directly into the burn pot. If things work well, the auger will continue to shove pellets into the pot, the blower fan will supply air and the hot rod will become hot. All three of these are necessary for ignition. The hot rod will burn out over time and may need replacement. You can purchase the online. Traeger dealers often stock OEM replacements.

Some people have noted that the ignition problem might be the result of a recent firmware update. My grill is not currently connected to WiFi, so I am running the same firmware it was running a year ago. The firmware updated when I first got the grill, but I replaced my router and never connected the grill to the new router.

You might need to contact Traeger customer service. This is not an official Traeger support service, only a forum of Traeger owners.

Christmas Day 2023 0530. Turn on Ironwood 650, set temp, hit ignite - smoker turned off. Grrrr! Tried several things I saw here, but nothing worked so gave up and cooked the brisket in the oven. Looked a little more this afternoon and a post suggested I prime the auger. It worked!! Smoker is now working perfectly! Just wanted to share since I was so frustrated this morning! Hope this helps someone!!

When you turn on the switch, set the desired temperature, do you press the knob to select it before pressing the ignition button? I used to get confused when I first got mine and it drove me batty.
