Hello, im a total newb, just smoked for my very first time today some pork ribs. Anyways, I wanted to grill some corn. My question is, do i remove that big metal tray that grease slides down in order to grill? Or does it basically stay in meaning you just cant grill over open flame like a propane grill?

Also, do I need grill grates in order to get a good crust or will the grates the grill comes with be enough.

And since the flame is only in the center instead of across the grill like a propane grill, I assume I cant grill items across the entire grill, only in that center hole?

Thanks!

The drip tray should always stay in place IMHO even though you may be doing something that doesn't involve any real amount of dripping fat etc. If you are doing corn-on-the-cob, I'd suggest pulling back (not removing) the husks, remove the silk, and then soaking them for an hour or so. Lather them up with butter and then pull the husks back over the con as this will keep the keep the corn from burning. The T's do a good job of dispersing heat/smoke, so you can load up as many as you need, though you may rotate if you are also loading them up on the racks.
