Timberline 850
Hi all,
I'm having an issue with my new Timberline 850.
Sometimes it takes a bit longer to turn things on the grates, like a minute. In that case, when I close the lid, the temperature keeps dropping, until it reaches a point and I get a FLAMEOUT error.
At this point, if I start the shutdown sequence, stop it, prime the auger, and press ignite, everything works.
I have made sure that:
  • The flame pot is clean
  • The grill itself is clean, the foil liners are new
  • There's enough pellets in the hopper
  • The auger works, by following the steps I outlined above in my "solution"
I called Traeger support, and they mentioned that they can help me get a controller replacement. I wanted to verify that this is caused by the controller, and not by a mistake I'm doing.
Again, when I open the lid for a short time, like 30 seconds, this doesn't happen. This seems to be happening only when the temperature drop is significant, like 20C.
Thanks!

IMO it sounds like a grill issue not from the user.

If I leave the lid open to add, take off, sauce, rotate, etc. you can hear the fan speed up making the fire hotter. Durning this time when lid is closed usually the temp rises quickly, then levels out.
