Got a Fireboard 2 a few days ago. Tested several probes inside my Pro 575 and noticed temperature differences of up to 20 degrees on different parts of the grill.

I decided to do the ice water accuracy test on all the probes and it’s safe to say the probes are calibrated perfectly.

Test procedure states probes should be within +-1.2F of 32F.

Channel 1 is the ambient probe.
Channel 2 is the long competition probe.
Channel 3 is the short competition probe.
Channel 4 is a standard probe.
Channel 5 is also a standard probe.

Sweet!! That’s awesome! 👍

Some members monitor different parts of there grills. I monitor the factory Traeger rtd, the grill will do the rest. I also have the hot spots figured out so adjust things being cooked accordingly.

Completely normal

@Timmy What do you mean by this? Do you place the Fireboard ambient probe next to the Traeger's built in probe? And do you change the Traeger's target temperature up/down to hit your desired temperature target on the Fireboard?

Guys do similar things with Smokey mountains and kettles. They find the delta from the cooking grid to the thermometer and they simply adjust the thermometer so it reads as close to the actual grid temp as possible. Most of those thermometers are adjusted with a nut on the back. Same principle anyway.

Exactly!

My FireBoard probe is about 1/2” away from the Traeger rtd.

Thanks...I remember now when you posted the mod of adding the bracket to hold the FB probe.

Probably a dumb question but...where are the cables for the probes routed? Are the cables routed through the same hole on the right side of the grill that the Traeger meat probe is designed for? If so, how many probes (ambient, long/short comp) will fit?

Yes, and I’ve had all 6 FireBoard + 2 form a different thermometer.

8 probes! 😳😳😳
Hahahaha, I had 2 on the rtd 1 FB and 1 thermopro. The rest were on the meats I was comparing the FB and the Thermopro.
