Some of you may be aware that I've had difficulty getting my IW 885 connected to my wifi. I got a replacement D2 controller, and still no connection. My son dropped by with his iPhone, and he was able to add my grill to his account! Talk about frustrating! So that told me that at least the grill would connect using my router/mesh system. I had tried numerous times with my Note 8, and my wife's Note 8 but it simply wouldn't connect. I went to my son's house with my Note, and still couldn't get his grill to connect using my Note.
I eventually decided to get a Samsung S9, as my dad has that model and I was easily able to get his grill connected to his S9, so I figured the S9 might be successful. So I bought an S9 today, brought it home, and within about 3 minutes, I had connected to my grill via wifi! Success! I was a happy camper to say the least.

I put some sausages and sauerkraut on the 885 and cooked them for a couple of hours....Fireboard running as well!

What was really odd, was that after we ate, my wife and I were talking at the table. I had put my 885 in shutdown mode. Suddenly HER phone beeped with a notification that "Bessie completed shutdown." What? Sure enough, her phone (a note 8) had connected, and to the new controller as well! Then I checked on my Note 8, and it also had connected to my 885.

So, if you're having issues getting your grill to connect, you might try with a few different devices using your Traeger account, it seems that after it's connected, you can possibly go back to your phone and it'll be connected.

I hope this can help someone.

p.s. my wife now has the S9 as she wanted a smaller phone, and I still get to keep using my Note 8 which I love....win / win!

yeah it was odd. Apparently (at least for me) the issue was in the initial linking/setting up, which I think has to verify through a data set that Traeger runs (assuming.) Anyway, after it was connected, worked flawlessly and it was no issue to have it connected on both of the Note 8s that previously would NOT connect whatsoever!

Here's a link the FB cook with a pic point....https://share.fireboard.io/6F5D69
