I may be late to the game and this question may have already been asked and answered. I am having a heck of a time finding Traeger “Oak” pellets. It has been my go to when smoking my own bacon. Did Traeger stop making Oak pellets? I guess I could use other flavored pellets but was curious. I would love to hear what others are using, thanks for any light you could share on the topic!

Thanks for the quick response!

Maybe they will return after the pandemic and supply chain issues subside. They could not maintain supply to meet demand and eliminated a couple or several pellets to concentrate on the highest demand flavors. Won’t be anytime in the foreseeable future I’m afraid.

Again thank you for adding the detail. I guess that makes sense. I use to buy 10 bags at a time and never had a problem finding Oak pellets and all of a sudden nothing. It was weird to say the least. I am sure hickory or mesquite will be just fine. It will get me out of my current routine, I may find out I like it more than the Oak. Have a great evening!

They make oak in other (likely better) brands if you’re wanting oak

Awesome, I think I will try the Pit Boss pellets unless you have a better recommendation.
I use Bear Mountain but will be looking for an alternative until the summer months when they return to the floors of Tractor Supply

I think you’ll find that many folks on here stopped using Traeger brand pellets due to their use of oils (for flavor).

Ive used a lot of Pit Boss and they work just fine!

I stopped using Traeger Pellets after my initial (IIRC) 3 bag supply were consumed. Those 3 bags were purchased at same time I got the Silverton 810. Many better lower cost pellets are available. OP will be likely be happier when not using the Traeger Pellets.

I mainly use Smoke House (50/50 Hickory Oak Blend) and Lumber Jack (Mesquite, or Oak). Both my Silverton 810 and Cuisinart Woodcreek pellet smokers have had no issues with either brands.

You will need to start thinking what to purchase with the money you save not buying Traeger high priced pettets. :ROFLMAO:

My non-Traeger pellets are less than 50 percent of the Traeger pellets.

As you can see in my avatar, I used to use a Santa Maria Style grill for my tri-tip and chicken. I specifically used red oak. I moved to San Diego and it was hard to find it. I tried the white oak and could actually taste the difference. I just got the Pro 780 and bought a bag of Hickory to start out with. I also got a back of the Gourmet blend at Costco. I will look for Oak in the other brands.
(Can't wait to get this many tips on the Traeger!)
