Hey everyone!
I'm curious about using deli paper for cooked food. Can it handle the heat or is it strictly for wrapping up sandwiches? Anyone tried using it to serve or wrap hot dishes?

"Deli Paper" is waxed, correct? I'm pretty sure it's not the same as "Butcher Paper" that we use to wrap briskets and ribs, etc. during the cooking process. I wouldn't try to smoke with deli paper, assuming that we're talking about the same thing. Can you wrap hot food in it? That's hard to say, but I bet there's a temperature limit on the packaging. Butcher paper is readily available, so I'd leave the deli paper to the deli.

I do not know the specs of your deli paper. Butcher paper can handle temperatures up to 450 F. Since temperatures are not always accurate, I would suggest not going over 425F. Butchers paper is generally brown or peach colored. There is also a white parchment paper that is generally used for baking. I have used it when baking pizza at 425F, but it has a temperature limit similar to butcher paper. The butcher paper will have more wet strength and wax to prevent bleedthrough.

Your deli paper might be butcher paper, wax paper, or parchment paper. I would not want to use wax paper as it is just tissue paper with a wax coating. Once the wax melts, the paper will fall apart.
