Since live in Hawaii where it’s quite humid I’ve decided to clear the auger after each cook. Only smoke about one per month and don’t want the hassle of clearing a jam. After the hopper is emptied and vacuumed I blow pellets out of the auger with HP air but still some remain. Using the high setting will clear them out but don’t like the idea of the igniter firing the remaining pellets up, too much of a hassle. What I did was install an igniter on/off switch which is no more than a toggle. Cut the leads from the board, soldered them to either side of the switch. Now I’m able to turn the igniter off and switch to high. The remaining pellets are pushed out of the auger without igniting. After I toggle the igniter to on for the next cook using the standard start up procedure. Yup it takes about 15 minutes to start smoking but heck, I’m on Hawaii time!
