Has anyone talked to Traeger or heard of Traeger planning an upgraded App for their grills? I would really like a graph tracker for probe and grill temp as well as continued monitoring once you have entered shutdown mode. I have had a handful of inexpensive multi probe thermometers that give a nice graph of what your temperatures have done so you can track temps and consistency. I also sometimes like to enter shutdown mode to finish my cooking, but in the app you automatically loose all monitoring of what is going on in the grill. These seem like some pretty easy improvements…

I tried reaching out at one point and never heard back.

I would assume some sort of upgrades will come forward at some point. Being the big boy in pellet cookers leads me to believe their product testing is rigorous and extensive. This means not always the fastest, but less bugs and kinks than some competitors. I keep
My eyes open the next 3-4 months. That’s when all the manufacturers usually drop their new stuff on us.

I hope you are correct. When I bought my Traeger last year I had assumed this less than top end functionality would be standard on these top line grills. I was sadly disappointed when I got it home and downloaded the app. Some good recipes and other stuff but I would prefer a more cutting edge cooking platform.

Their app and interface are industry leading. Period.
If you want some sorta graph just use your cheap probe unit that does that. I’m always amazed at what people think is important. smh.

I call BS. You have an extremely basic (app) interface with minimal functionality that is little more than a Traeger marketing ad. Then you have a unit built with parts that are par at best. Meat temperature probe needs calibration and still is not consistent ( I do use my cheap multi-probe because it lets me know that happened over the cooking period, not a mostly useless snapshot and is reliable). Internal temp probe is shot after less than a year. Chamber temp fluctuates 15-20 degrees…. I could go on. I have used dedicated smokers and grills for years, they each do their job well. Traeger may be “industry leading”, but it is a shallow pool and a high price to pay for a mediocre compromise between a smoker and a barbecue. I know Traeger has created a large number of fanatical sycophants ( and allowed many frat boys to think they can all the sudden be a pit master), the same way the Island Boys are considered more than a circus freak show and Yeti is considered best of the best because of marketing (and has been proven mediocre in many of its claims by numerous fact checkers).

Not trying to be a troll, I just expect more for the money from the industry leader.

I just telling you the Truth. For instance, the chamber temp fluctuating is by design. It’s a pellet smoker. Over the years, they’ve figured out that the flavor profile is better when you fluctuate the temp/pellet flow. It’s written into the programming of the computer. They all do it to some degree. Some brands more, some brands less.
The probe issue is also something that’s pretty minor. I’ll give you that the probes are probably not perfectly accurate. I’m not 100% sure, because they are meant to be a target that is followed up on with an instant read. Using ANY stick and stay as the holy grail reading for a protein is poor practice and no pitmaster or experienced comp cook would ever do that.
Im not sure what you mean by basic? According to your signature line you own a basic Pro model. It doesn’t have some of the bells and whistles as the higher end models. Tbh, I’ve never used the pro series since they’ve gone to the WiFi controllers, only ironwoods and timberlines. I’m just here to tell you that Traegers app and interface are as good as their is out there. It does what it’s supposed to very reliably and intuitively. I’ve used 3-4 other brands if not more and theirs is the best overall by a wide margin when all factors are considered. Again, I’m sure they will continue to improve, but these things take time and require a lot of testing to make sure there aren’t unintended issues. The best thing is reliability and they rate high on that chart. Perfect? No. Really good? Yes.
It sounds like you’re bitter about purchasing a Traeger. If so, that’s what they created Marketplace for. Cheers!
